I’ve been a wee bit slack with my blog lately…I’ve a few photo’s still to edit and post, and there’s roughly 1001 films I’ve watched in the last week or so. but I particularly want to post the films Kim and I watched.
So here goes:
(I dont want to take up the whole page with my movie post. So click on the more tab to check ‘em out)
| “If These Walls Could Talk 2″ | We watched “If These Walls Could Talk 2″ before dinner, so we had plenty to discuss as we ate. This was 3 vignette’s taken fromthe perspective of a single house, in 3 different ages - 1961, 1972, and 2000. This movie made me want to scream at the injustice we stupid humans perpetrate against each other. Then had me shaking my head at how resistance to anything different to our own experience can come from surprising places. But then it left me smiling, and full of hope for our future as a species. Oh how I hope we get it right! |

| “Umi wa miteita (The Sea is Watching)” | We walked back from a great dinner, all prepared to watch “Umi wa miteita (The Sea is Watching)” I’m not sure what I can really say except this film sucked! We really laboured through this one…it took ages to watch, and managed to keep both of us bored. Based on a Shugoro Yamamoto novel, this film should have been worth watching at the very least, but the best thing about it was the fact that it ended, and by the time it did, I was more than convinced that my world would be better if I never saw it again. I’ve read a few other peoples opinion on this film, and the general consensus seems much more positive than I. Perhaps I should wade through it again sometime…but it wont be soon that I do. |

| Starring: Misa Shimizu, Nagiko Tono, Masatoshi Nagase |

| “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai” | When we got up the next day I subjected Kim to my choice:“Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai” How I love this film…well, it’s by the masterful Jim Jarmusch, so what’s not to like really. But I think this would be my favorite Jarmusch film, and one of my favorite films overall. I still get something extra from it every time I watch it. Not so sure Kim agrees, but she was willing to give it another go, and to be fair there is a lot going on in this movie if you’ve never been into Samurai or Mafia movies. I mean, the film is so much more than a Samurai or gangsta flick. But it certainly helps to have some understanding of those sorts of tribes to really get the most from this movie. |

| “Tipping the Velvet” | Next up came “Tipping the Velvet” A period piece, this film was heart wrenchingly beautiful. The central character’s life is a rollercoaster of emotions as she navigates the minefield of life and love. An adventure to watch, and definately one I want to watch again. |

||
| Starring: Rachael Stirling, Keeley Hawes, Jodhi May |

| “The L word” | and then we stayed up for most of the night (and most of the following night!) watching season one of “The L word”I really enjoyed this series, and not just for the eye candy! (although that certainly rates a mention!) The storylines so well written, and cinematography so artfully appealing. I could go on and on, there was so much I enjoyed about it. But I’ll try not to be too verbose, and just say that I found it really easy to identify with this show, some of the characters and some of the plot’s echos in my own life tugged at the heart strings. I’m really looking forward to watching more of this. |

Now that’s a movie marathon!
